PO-01-222 LONG-TERM IMPACT OF ADDITIONAL ABLATION AFTER PULMONARY VEIN ISOLATION: RESULTS FROM EARNEST-PVI TRIAL

نویسندگان

چکیده

An optimal strategy for left atrial ablation in addition to pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) patients with persistent fibrillation (AF) has not been determined. EARNEST-PVI trial previously reported that PVI-plus (PVI followed by additional ablation, including linear or targeting areas complex fractionated electrograms [CFAE]) was possibly superior PVI alone AF patients. To elucidate long-term impact of The present study extended the follow-up period 3 years after enrollment trial. Primary outcomes recurrence rate and/or tachycardia (AT) were compared between PVI-alone group (n=248) and (n=245). In addition, also on-treatment groups categorized actually created lesions. AF/AT lower randomly allocated than (29.0% vs. 37.5%, p=0.036). On-treatment analysis revealed + (n=205) demonstrated a those only (26.3% 37.8%, p=0.007). contrast, CFAE (n=37) had comparable (40.5% p=0.76). At second 126 recurrence, ATs excluding common flutter more frequent (32.6% 5.7%, p<0.0001). Left efficacious during 3-year follow up. Linear other strategies, but may increase iatrogenic ATs.

Does a blanking period after pulmonary vein isolation impact long-term results? Results after 55 months of follow-up.

BACKGROUND The aims of the study are 1) to assess antiarrhythmic prophylaxis efficacy during the first 2 months after radiofrequency ablation (ARF) due to AF; 2) to define risk factors for early AF recurrence (EAFR) after ARF; 3) to determine the long-term follow-up results and risk factors for late AF recurrence (LAFR). METHODS A total number of 210 consecutive patients who had undergone ARF...

Pulmonary vein isolation: the impact of pulmonary venous anatomy on long-term outcome of catheter ablation for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.

BACKGROUND Circumferential pulmonary vein (PV) isolation is the cornerstone of catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF); however, PV reconnection remains problematic. OBJECTIVE To assess the impact of PV anatomy on outcome after AF ablation. METHODS One hundred two patients with paroxysmal AF underwent cardiac magnetic resonance (60%) or computed tomography (40%) before AF ablation. P...

Long-Term Results of a Minimally Invasive Surgical Pulmonary Vein Isolation and Ganglionic Plexi Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation

BACKGROUND Ganglionated plexi (GP) ablation has been become an adjunct to pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). This study describes the long-term results of minimally invasive surgical PVI, ablation of GPs, and exclusion of the left atrial appendage for atrial fibrillation (AF). METHODS Long-term follow-up of 55 months was performed in 139 consecutive patients (age 58.3±20.8 years) with symptomati...

Prevalence, characteristics, and predictors of pulmonary vein narrowing after isolation using the pulmonary vein ablation catheter.

BACKGROUND The risk of pulmonary vein narrowing (PVN) after pulmonary vein isolation, using a novel multi-electrode ablation catheter, is unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS Left atrial volume and PV diameters were compared by computed tomography (CT) before and 3 months after pulmonary vein isolation using duty-cycled phased radio frequency energy (2:1 or 4:1 bipolar/unipolar ratio) in 50 patients....

Long-term results of surgical minimally invasive pulmonary vein isolation for paroxysmal lone atrial fibrillation.

AIMS Transcatheter pulmonary vein ablation is the current treatment of choice for symptomatic drug-refractory atrial fibrillation (AF). Video-assisted surgical pulmonary vein isolation (sPVI) is an alternative therapy to percutaneous ablation for the treatment of AF. Long-term results of sPVI are currently unknown. The aim of this study was to report on the long-term efficacy and safety of sPVI...
